DUSKIN 60th Anniversary

Actualizing a Recycling Society

Basic Policy

The cleaning utensil rental systems that Duskin has successfully popularized in Japan value things based on a "repeated use, shared use, reduction of needless waste and disposal" business approach. To continue contributing to the formation of a recycling society moving forward, in addition to striving towards the effective use of limited resources, we also thoroughly implement the three Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycling) throughout item life cycles, and work to reduce waste generation.

Environmental Policy Statement

Sowing the Seeds of Ecological Responsibility
for the Future

symbol mark

Duskin started its business by renting out cleaning tools. It has always promoted the philosophy that things should be used to their fullest extent or to the end of their useful lives. This philosophy conserves natural resources, and protects mother Earth. Duskin will review its business activities and all phases of the life cycle of its products from product development to processing, delivery and recycle or disposal after the end of their useful lives. With a focus on repeated use, shared use, reduction of needless waste and disposal, Duskin continues to increase its efforts to protect the environment. Along with the philosophy of Sowing the Seeds of Joy, Duskin will endeavor to enhance its ecological preservation initiatives through building upon simple and familiar actions for the improvement of the future for all.

Contributing to a recycling society through our rental system

The merit of a rental system is being able to practice thorough environmental management throughout the entire life cycle of a product. Duskin promotes environmentally friendly business activities from product development to recycling when the product is thrown away.

  • Rental of cleaning tools
  • Rental of special event
    and daily use items
  • Rental of assisted-living
    products

The process of cleaning a dirty mop

  • Delivery & sorting
Collected used mops are organized by type, color, and size.
  • Washing & drying
After the process of washing, rinsing, draining, and adsorbent application, the mops are dried with warm air.
  • Finishing
Piles of the mops are evened out with a machine and the presence of small metal fragments or foreign substances is checked with an x-ray machine and metal detector.
  • Inspection
The mops are inspected against various inspection standards including stains and wear-and-tear.

Mop & mat recycling at the Direct Selling Group

Since our inception in 1963, we have periodically supplied customers with a rental service focusing on cleaning products like mops and mats. 100% of used products are collected, and 97% are recycled as products after being cleaned at plants.

The 3% of products that cannot be recycled are repurposed and used to the very end. Even the dust and dirt on mops and mats are converted to resources and used effectively.

Duskin's reuse and recycling system

Rental system of Rent-All and Health Rent businesses

Baby-related items, home health care equipment, travel and special event items are expensive and usually used only for a limited time. Purchasing these items can lead to wasteful use of resources and add to the responsibilities of disposal of no longer needed items.

"Shared use" makes it possible for customers to use the products only when the customers need them, and at a low cost. Rental products are collected and thoroughly maintained. This rental system helps maximize the product value and reduce needless waste.

Rent-All Business
Waste reduction effect through baby bed rentals

Baby bed rentals

Baby bed rentals reach up to approximately 45,298 annually. If all of these beds were purchased instead of rented, resources for 45,298 beds would be needed every year. But if the beds are rented, the number of beds needed is only about 18,146.

For baby and daily products, "using together" instead of "everyone purchasing individually" leads to resource conservation and waste reduction.

For clients holding various kinds of events, Duskin provides the best know-how accumulated through experience as well as facilities and products. We give effective advice that also considers environmental burden.

Environmentally friendly product development

For the products we supply as well, we offer environmental friendliness including effective resource use. In our care service, professional staff versed in expertise fulfill the customer desire to use tools with care.

Mats for commercial use

Custom-made mat, ecological dust
control and water absorption type

One of our commercial mats uses recycled polyester made from plastic bottles in the pile materials.
While making use of eco-friendly materials, the mat also meets our standards of excellent dust control and water absorption functions required for dust control mats.

Mops for commercial use

Smart Mop, New Duskin Mop, Non-oil Mop, Eco AC

Duskin recycles precious resources in the production process of its core mop products for commercial use. Unused scraps including short fibers generated during the textile spinning process, which were previously disposed, are now recycled into mop piles.
As a result, the mop products have been granted the Eco Mark Certification.

Oil Filter Yukkurin Nice

This original Duskin high-functioning filter with "activated carbon powder" thoroughly eliminates oil smells and mess after deep frying foods. It makes it possible to reuse clean, filtered oil over and over again, which is great for the environment.

Range Hood Filter—Non-woven type

Range Hood Filter—Non-woven type

Part of the material of our range food filter uses biomass plastic* made from corn.
This popular, affordable and highly safe filter quickly absorbs grease into its fibers.

  • *Biomass plastic is a new plastic material that uses recyclable organic resources from plants as its raw material. It is attracting attention as a plastic that can be produced sustainably from organic material rather than from petroleum, as petroleum is not only a factor contributing to global warming, it is also in danger of being depleted from extensive use.

Kitchen Soap Raku-in Pack

We develop products that promote the reduction of plastic containers and the effective use of resources. For the Raku-in Pack, refilling is as easy as inserting a new soap pack into the "Raku-in Pack Bottle Mini" and covering it with the outer bottle. The packs empty completely at the end of use, meaning every bit of the soap is used. This is also sanitary.
Also, the core ingredient is a people and environmentally friendly vegetable-derived material made mainly from palm oil. Composed of a fusion of six herbal extracts and a moisturizer that is also used in food products, the specs are so safe that can even be used to wash fruits and vegetables.
